I'm back on DeviantArt, now to establish a link between English speakers and my creations! Let's not prevaricate: this diary is essentially there to give you some context for everything I'm going to publish from now on!

What?

Nuibie College is a comic series starting in September 2021 in the French fanzine "Nimatek", set on the fictional planet of "Nuibie", a planet populated by various fantasy species, all humanoid, but none truly human. Species include hursians, macalites, oryanis and similicas.

The basic scenario: a young Hursian girl, Cassandra Kalabrio, is forced to leave her native village of Galité for the nearest town, Niévicila, to attend secondary school (high school). For practical reasons, Cassandra will live at the high school boarding school, returning home only at weekends. During her first year of high school, Cassandra, a country girl, discovers the world of the city, and experiences a clash of cultures and values. Cassandra realizes that this world isn't her own, and a dead end happens so quickly. Fortunately, Cassandra will also meet many new people, including her schoolmates, so she won't be alone in tackling the obstacles in her path!

The daring thing about this story is that it's a comic where the characters have a style close to what's known as "furry", but which breaks quite a few of the genre's codes. You'll have the chance to see for yourself when you read the chapters to come.

How and where?

Nuibie College currently consists of three episodes (if I include the prologue "One day like that on Nuibie"), and two more are already in preparation at the time of writing.

The prologue, entitled "One day like that on Nuibie", was released in a first provisional version on September 3, 2021, then in a longer, polished version on December 25, 2021. The December version was initially available exclusively to purchasers of issue 1 of the Nimatek fanzine, before being made available on the internet (first on the Webtoon site, then on Nimatek blog, so naturally this is the first story I'll be publishing in English on this DeviantArt account) from July 23, 2022, i.e. a few weeks after the release of the following story. "One day like that on Nuibie", as a prologue, takes place BEFORE Cassandra's arrival at high school, and tells the story of Cassandra's last day before she leaves. It's a fairly experimental comic, with the character designs even changing noticeably as the pages go by. You have to start somewhere ^^.

The next story, entitled "Nuibie Collège: Bienvenue à Niévicila" (Nuibie College: Welcome to Nievicila), was released on July 8, 2022, and is readable by all purchasers of Nimatek issue 2. Publication of this story on the Internet (in the Nimatek blog and on Webtoon in French, here in English) is scheduled for the coming weeks! This story is the real beginning, in the sense that it's in this story that Cassandra enters high school, and meets the girl who will become her first school friend: Louise Deladiva, a Hursian girl who's a little uncomfortable in her own skin and has no friends to speak of.

Finally, the third story, entitled "Nuibie Collège: La rentrée des crasses", will be a direct sequel to the second. It was originally scheduled for release in April 2023, but after a LOT of hiccups, it's finally out in September 2023. This story is, for the moment, exclusive to the Nimatek fanzine, but like its two predecessors, will be published on the Internet when its successor is released!
